My 4th attempt at a music video. This one I did while waiting for my Windows XP drivers for my DC-10+. I used fansubs of Noir from Bakamx. I didn't have the whole series in high quality and I didn't want to use crap so that limited my source. I love the series and when I heard Bare Grace Misery I instantly thought Noir. I was debating on waiting for the domestic US release but that is going to be a while. If you like the operatic music found on the Noir OST you will most likely LOVE this band. The lead singer sang the song found in the space opera scene in the Fifth Element.

As in my previous AMV my timing is not usually to the main beat of the music. That doesn't seam to go well with the critics but I could care less what they think of my work. I spent lots of time on the small details (Probably more than I should have) so if you pay attention to little things matching the beat you may be surprised. I know there are a few flaws in the video here and there, but encoding from Divx is still a bit buggy. Especially when all of you source in Premiere is in that codec. I have experienced multiple freezes, crashes and other crap with it which made making this video a big pain.

This is my 1st AMV made with Premiere & After Effects and it shows. This was a MAJOR jump from Media Studio, its a good program but I had too many problems with it. I am studying these programs along with Photoshop for my college. So in the future I hope to make my AMV's ALLOT BETTER! So far I have received good comments at AnimeMusicVideos.org so if you like it please leave comments.

Convention Version 1.1

This version was made to fix many of the little errors in this video that really bugged me. I redid this from the original Adobe Premiere files and new audio clips. Ok here are the fixes... Timing on all fades, transitions, and lip sync was fixed; the ending was redone, some glitches where removed and the sunglasses where removed in one scene. This version premiered at AWA 8 2002.

I recommend you read the lyrics for this video! It will make things more clear on selected scenes.

Production Stills

Editing on a small monitor on a slow computer is not fun. I later upgraded to 2 19" monitors and I can't see how I did anything without them

Lip Sync

Everyone has their own way to do lip-sync. Mine is to make a mouth-less face and overlay an open and closed mouth. When you get this done all you have to do is time it to the words. I spent hours in front of the mirror and got what I thought was accurate movements but its my 1st attempt at this so it still needs work.

Sunglasses Removal

For the convention version I tried to maintain continuity by removing the sunglasses in one scene. This requires some frame by frame Photoshop & Premiere work.  This is done by exporting the clip to a .tga or .tiff sequence and editing each frame in Photoshop. When you're done you make them a video file again in Premiere. This can be a painstaking and long process but the results are usually worth it. This is by far not my best work but you have to learn somewhere.

Lyrics

Bare Grace Misery

Sweet boy, come in
I am the dark side of you
Die for my sins
Like the One once did

Cinnamon bed
For your unashamed appetite
A figurante
This dance will hurt like hell

Oh, bare grace misery
Just a child without a fairytale am I
Dark but so lovely
A Little Match Girl freezing in the snow

Love lying, enticing
(Bare grace misery)
Crowning the moment
(Bare grace misery)
This is what I am
Bare grace for the end of days

Romantic scent
Spoiled Lucrece lies warm for you
There`s no such priest
That can pray me to heaven

When done with me
Forget if you think I feel ashamed
A wild thing
Never felt sorry for anything

Love lying...

Lyrical Definitions

When I released this AMV I had some e-mails asking what some of the words meant. I even had a bunch of people who couldn't understand the signer at all. This is what resulted in the subtitled version. Still some words and scenes in the AMV are better understood when you know what the words mean.
 figurante
- A female ballet dancer with no speaking lines. -

This part of the song is used in the ever popular neck snapping scene with the tie. I used this scene because her graceful deadly movements reminded me of a ballet dancer. Strange hugh? Imagine what was going the the head of the guy who made the AMV Jinnai and the Bugram Live.

 Lucrece
- A high ranking, highly respected, single female in Medieval European society -

This is a word with several meanings and the most vague is the definition I used. Most people refer to the definition used in Shakespeare's plays but it has others. The scene I used makes me laugh every time I watch it because of how ironic it is if you go by the most common definition.

The most commonly known definition is:
( Obviously not the one I used ^_^ )
(lookrēsī) or Lucretia , in Roman legend, Roman matron, illustrious for her virtue. She was the victim of rape by Sextus, son of Tarquinius Superbus. Having enjoined her husband, Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus, and his friends to avenge her, she stabbed herself to death. The ensuing revolt drove the Tarquins from Rome.
